Announcing the Zoom Marketplace Competition
Create the next big company that Zoom customers will love & get the chance to secure up to $2M from Emergence and leading venture firms
We are excited to announce the Zoom Marketplace Competition. Together with the Zoom Team and fellow investors, Jim Scheinman at Maven Ventures, Carl Eschenbach at Sequoia and Bart Swanson for Horizons Ventures, we’ve created the competition to encourage and support the developer community to build the next generation of greatness and bring to life new ideas - creativity, innovation and problem-solving - that will continue to deliver happiness to every new and existing Zoom user.
At Emergence Capital, we believe strongly in Zoom’s core mission and have seen how the Zoom App Marketplace has opened up endless opportunities to connect new apps and services together to improve the way teams meet and communicate. Launched on stage at Zoomtopia 2019, Zoom’s third annual user conference, the competition was created to encourage early-stage startups to leverage Zoom’s platform to scale their services, grow their audience and become a valuable member of the Zoom ecosystem.
My fellow investors and I are extremely passionate about supporting the effort, so we have committed our time and pledged the potential for capital.
- Up to 10 finalists will be chosen to pitch their companies to partners at Emergence, Horizons Ventures, Maven Ventures, and Sequoia.
- The final selected winner would be eligible to potentially receive up to $2 million in funding.
- In addition, the winner will also receive an advisory session with senior Zoom product experts, priority development support from the Zoom platform team, a DTEN D7 55” all-in-one interactive whiteboard with a 3-year Zoom Rooms license, and 10 Zoom Pro licenses for 3 years.
This is a very unique and special opportunity, and we’re enthusiastic to see the outpouring of ideas. We have led similar efforts in the past that have resulted in industry-leading ideas, such as ServiceMax, a company born from the Force $1M Challenge we held with Salesforce. (ServiceMax went on to be a leader and sold to GE for $1B.) More recently, Emergence held a Machine Learning competition with Google Cloud and Data Collective. Winners included LiftIgniter, BrainSpec, and PicnicHealth.
Submissions will be accepted from October 15, 2019, through March 31, 2020, and the winner will be announced at the Zoom Developer Summit. Learn more about the competition, eligibility, and rules on the website: http://marketplace.zoom.us/competition.
Good Luck!
