Shun Hagiwara

Shun is an Associate at Emergence Capital. Born in Japan and having moved to 10 different cities, Shun deeply appreciates the faith founders have in themselves and their experiences to begin anew.

Shun has dedicated his career to learning about how people work. Prior to Emergence, he was an Associate and Deal Team Lead at Fractal Software, an industry cloud-focused venture studio. At Fractal, he studied dozens of industries and how modern software could help professionals in their day-to-day work lives in the office, out in the field, or on the shop floor. In the process, he helped launch six companies and currently works with the founders as an advisor. Shun was also a management consultant at L.E.K. Consulting, where he conducted commercial due diligence of enterprise SaaS companies, and an accountant at KPMG before that.

As a lifelong student, Shun earned his bachelor’s degree studying Business Economics and Accounting at UCLA, where he graduated cum laude. Prior to that, he attended Milton Academy, a co-ed boarding school located near Boston. He is forever grateful for the lifelong friends he has met at both institutions.

In his free time, Shun enjoys working out, eating and drinking his way through his Yelp lists, going for drives, and singing at karaoke with friends.
