Why Santi Subotovsky is now a General Partner of Emergence Capital

We are incredibly excited and proud to announce that Santi Subotovsky has become the fifth General Partner of Emergence Capital. At Emergence, we pride ourselves on our team-first culture and collaborative approach to the venture business. From our earliest days, we decided to hire great talent and promote from within to enhance and preserve our culture. Similar to Kevin Spain before him, Santi joined our firm as a Senior Associate in 2010 and worked his way up to Principal, Partner, and now General Partner of the firm. Santi proved himself at every level of our firm with great enthusiasm and unwavering commitment.  He has become a leader both within our firm, and increasingly within our industry.

At Emergence we believe in the power and value of diversity of thought and experience. With Santi Subotovsky, we gained not only a tremendous talent who was a great fit with our culture, but also a unique set of experiences and perspectives. Santi founded and built a company in Latin America and as any entrepreneur in emerging markets knows, the courage required to build a successful startup amidst economic adversity builds one’s character and resilience far beyond any Silicon Valley startup. That unique perspective has helped us think differently as a firm, and Santi, more than anyone, has embraced and enabled diversity in our thinking. Santi brings an entrepreneur’s mindset and has demonstrated a great talent and passion for the venture business. We have always believed an extreme work ethic and lofty ambitions combined with a capacity to learn are far more important than a proven track record in our business. Santi combines a relentless optimism and “get it done” kind of attitude that is rare in the venture business. He brings that level of passion and empathy to every entrepreneur he meets. Santi is the type of guy that never leaves his team or his entrepreneurs behind in the pursuit of his own success. He is simply the kind of person you’d hope your kids one day grow up to be.
