“The team at Emergence strives to be your most important partner and what better way than by helping our companies connect with the right people to further accelerate their growth?"
Tammy Han is the Head of Talent at Emergence where she brings nearly a decade of recruiting, team-building and growth advisory to early-stage startups through IPO. Having worked with hundreds of early-stage founding teams, Tammy knows the complexities founders face when recruiting their first employees and is passionate about helping companies stay competitive by sharing best practices & recruiting guides.
At Emergence, Tammy leads all talent-related efforts for the firm and for the growing list of Emergence portfolio companies. She recognizes the importance of building a winning team from the very beginning and works closely with founders to identify, connect, and hire game-changing people.
Prior to Emergence, Tammy spent time at a boutique technology search firm (Riviera Partners), worked as the first in-house recruiter at MemSQL and shaped the talent functions at First Round & Sequoia Capital.
At Riviera Partners, she specialized in technical recruiting and helped build core engineering teams for some of the biggest names in Silicon Valley, including: MoPub (acquired by Twitter), Pinterest (PINS), Karma Science (acquired by Facebook), AeroFS (acquired by Redbooth) and more. She then worked at MemSQL, an enterprise company building the world's fastest relational database, where she was their first recruiter and built their recruiting function.
Tammy then joined First Round, where she helped build and lead the Talent function for 5+ years, partnering with their community of 300+ seed-stage companies on their early recruiting efforts, including Blue Apron, Flatiron Health, Flexport, Planet Labs, Square, HotelTonight, Uber, and Warby Parker. Tammy also worked at Sequoia Capital on their Human Capital team on special projects designed to support their seed-stage companies.
