Kevin Spain
General Partner
“Coming to Emergence has been going back to my roots.”
Kevin Spain is a General Partner at Emergence Capital. He joined the firm 16 years ago after committing to spend the rest of his career working on what he's most passionate about: helping entrepreneurs with the immense challenge of building a company.
In this time, he's led some of the firm's landmark investments, including in Doximity (NYSE: DOCS), Blend (NYSE: BLND), Augmedix (NASDAQ: AUGX), Crunchbase, and more. He still sits on the board of Doximity, having seen the team from its earliest stages to today's $5.4 billion market cap.
Kevin brought his own entrepreneurial experience into venture. As Co-founder & CEO of atMadison.com, he rode the rollercoaster of the first dot-com bubble, a time that shaped how he now likes to show up for and support the founders he partners with. He's always excited to live vicariously through the highs, but, more importantly, is committed to being a rock during the lows.
Earlier in his career, Kevin was a senior member of the corporate development team at Microsoft that launched Electronic Arts' original online gaming business. This was a formative role that connected him with some of the most sucessful executives in the technology industry and laid the foundation for his domain expertise in software, digital media, and online services. He's always looking for opportunities to connect newer entrepreneurs with this network.
Kevin is a Kaufmann Fellow, has his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated undergrad from the University of Texas at Austin. As a native Texan and a foodie, he's always trying to find great barbecue and southern food joints in the Bay Area.
