Wenz's first taste of entrepreneurship was at 19. He would knock door-to-door to try to help main street businesses raise money from their community members. Wenz has never been scared to take the road less traveled – and from that point on he has acquired a deep respect for those who follow their gut.
During undergrad, Wenz started a company in self-storage, founded Midway Ventures to help student entrepreneurs practice their pitches, and was an Associate at both Hyde Park Angels and the George Shultz Innovation Fund.
Prior to joining Emergence, Wenz was an Associate at Bullpen Capital. At Bullpen, Wenz sourced and/or led the team's investments in Ocrolus, Goodtime, Grin and OnSiteIQ amongst others.
Wenz also spent time on the Special Projects team at Cloudflare building a better internet, and he is currently a Co-Chair of the Emerging VC Association (EVCA).
Wenz received a degree in Economics from the University of Chicago, where he attended on a full-ride Questbridge Scholarship.
